CIS expresses shock over rumors being circulated by section of Media about PTI Vice Chairman:
Central Information Secretary PTI Dr. Shireen Mazari has expressed shock and dismay over absolutely fabricated news against PTI Vice Chairman Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi appeared in section of media despite being negated these rumors by PTI officially. Contrary to the rumors, she said Chairman PTI Imran Khan is fully aware of meetings between PTI leaders and diplomats. Rumors, she added are deliberately being floated to create misunderstanding between PTI leaders but these schemes will not work. In fact, according to her Chairman PTI has especially asked PTI leaders including Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi to contact foreign diplomats and convey them PTI positions over issues of great national and international significance.“PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi is also present when foreign dignitaries and diplomats call on Chairman PTI”, she concluded.???

Chairman Imran Khan condemned India's latest act of aggression against Pakistan:
PTI Chairman Imran Khan today condemned India's latest act of aggression against Pakistan the Indian Coastguards' blowing up of a Pakistani boat in international waters. This unprovoked act of aggression is in violation of all international laws. That the boat was given no warning shows the aggressive Indian intent. To cover up this illegal and inhuman action of their Coastguards, the Indian govt turned to lies alleging the occupants were terrorists who blew themselves up. Now the coastguards action has been revealed.
What is also clear is that the boat was probably of poor Pakistani fishermen slaving away to feed their families just as Indian fishermen do; both Pakistan and India are aware that often these poor fishermen stray into each other's territorial waters and are caught and then eventually sent back to their country. But this time the boat was in international waters and the Indian coastguards' action illegal.
Chairman Khan demanded the Pakistan govt immediately investigate this aggressive action by India and take appropriate action. The muted statement by the Pak Defence Minister is not sufficient, Khan concluded.

ISLAMABAD:
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s ruling party on Tuesday renewed its demand for redeploying paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) troops in the province and reassigning to K-P soldiers serving in other parts of the country.
“The FC’s job is to guard the border between Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) and K-P but this force is spread out across the country,” said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan in a statement on Tuesday.
According to the PTI chairman, K-P has suffered the most at the hands of terrorists. “Therefore, the federal government should return the FC to the province that it belongs to,” the statement said.
Two months earlier, Imran had also appealed for the return of the paramilitary force in the wake of the December 16 attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar.
The PTI chief underscored the need for ‘concerted efforts’ both at the central and provincial levels to end the scourge of terrorism from the country.
Meanwhile, PTI leaders expressed solidarity with the families of the people killed in Lahore Police Lines and urged the Punjab government to provide every possible help to the families of the deceased.

Pakistan Likely to go Ahead with Bangladesh Tour

Pakistan Likely to go Ahead with Bangladesh Tour

Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided in principle to send the national team to Bangladesh in April-May if the hosts agree to foot expenses for the tour.

An official in the board told PTI that while the PCB was still waiting for a final response from the Bangladesh Cricket Board on its demand for a 50 percent share in the revenues earned from the series, it wanted the tour to go ahead.
"Our main concern is that we get nothing out of the tour although in principle it should be our home series because we toured Bangladesh in 2011 and they didn't return the tour in 2012," the official said.
"We had even offered to host this series in UAE to earn something from it but they declined," he added.
The official said the PCB wanted the tour to go ahead as scheduled but the PCB also was not interested in spending from its own pocket to send the team to Bangladesh.
"If the BCB agree to pay for the team's air tickets and take care of their other expenses on the tour we will probably go ahead with it," the official said.
Earlier senior officials of the PCB including Chairman, Shaharyar Khan and Najam Sethi had hinted that if Bangladesh didn't agree to share revenues from the series Pakistan could call off the tour.
Pakistan are scheduled to play two Tests, three ODIs and two T20 matches on the tour.
The BCB initially refused the Pakistani demand for a share in revenue but later said it would be willing to look at taking care of the Pakistan team expenses to make the tour.

World Cup: Shoaib Akhtar Has Doubts Over Mohammad Irfan's Fitness

World Cup: Shoaib Akhtar Has Doubts Over Mohammad Irfan's Fitness

Karachi: Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has raised questions over the fitness of the tall left arm paceman Muhammad Irfan, who is part of the national team in the ongoing World Cup.
"I have doubts over the fitness of Irfan ...I don't think he is fit to play a match," Akhtar said on Geo news channel.(Irfan Aims to Emulate Akram)
The 7-foot 1-inch Irfan has been tipped to be Pakistan's best bowler in the World Cup by former greats like Imran Khan and Wasim Akram but against India he struggled and was also warned for running onto the pitch.
Akhtar said that the team management needed to handle Irfan carefully as they were still lot of matches remaining in the mega event.
He also said that he had a feeling Pakistan would persist with Umar Akmal as the wicketkeeper for the match against West Indies on Wednesday.
"To be honest I don't see any change in the side apart from Younis Khan," he added.
The Pakistan think-tank tried out Younis Khan as a makeshift opener against India an experiment that failed badly and has led to criticism by former players, critics and fans.
Akhtar also made it clear that if Pakistan didn't win the toss and bowl first in Christchurch on Wednesday it could face problems against the West Indies.
"We have seen on a few occasions how the first use of the pitches in New Zealand in day matches has assisted the seam bowlers in particular that is why the toss is so vital," he added.

The 2015 Cricket World Cup is the 11th Cricket World Cup, jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand from 14 February to 29 March 2015. 14 teams will play 49 matches in 14 venues, with Australia staging 26 games at grounds in AdelaideBrisbaneCanberraHobartMelbourne,Perth and Sydney while New Zealand hosts 23 games in AucklandChristchurchDunedinHamiltonNapierNelson and Wellington.[1] The final match of the tournament will take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The hosting rights were awarded at the same time as those of the 2011 Cricket World Cup, which Australia and New Zealand had originally bid to host, and the 2019 Cricket World Cup, which was awarded to England. The 2011 tournament was awarded to the four Asian Test cricketplaying countries, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, in a 10 to 3 vote (Pakistan later lost the co-hosting rights due to a terrorist attackon the Sri Lankan team). The International Cricket Council were sufficiently impressed with the trans-Tasman bid that it was decided to award the next World Cup to Australia and New Zealand.[2][3] This is the second time that the tournament will be held in Australia and New Zealand, with the first being the 1992 Cricket World Cup. Sachin Tendulkar has been named as the 2015 Cricket World Cup Ambassador by the ICC for the second time, after 2011 Cricket World Cup where he was the ambassador. India are the defending champions, having won the tournament in 2011 when it was held in the Indian subcontinent, defeating Sri Lanka in the finals by 6 wickets. Tickets for the Pool B match between Indiaand Pakistan, played on 15 February 2015, reportedly sold out within 12 minutes of going on sale.[4]

Host selection

Bids

The ICC announced the hosts for the previous World Cup, the 2011 competition, on 30 April 2006. Australia and New Zealand had also bid for the tournament and a successful Australasianbid for the 2011 World Cup would have seen a 50–50 split in games, with the final still up for negotiation. The Trans-Tasman bid, Beyond Boundaries, was the only bid for 2011 delivered to the ICC headquarters at Dubai before 1 March deadline. Considerable merits of the bid included the superior venues and infrastructure, and the total support of the Australian and New Zealand governments on tax and custom issues during the tournament, according to Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland.[5] The New Zealand government had also assured that the Zimbabwean team would be allowed to take part in the tournament after political discussions about whether their team would be allowed to tour Zimbabwe in 2005.[6]
ICC President Ehsan Mani said that the extra time required by the Asian bloc to hand over its bid had harmed the four-nation bid. However, when it came to the voting, the Asians won by seven votes to four; according to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), it was the vote of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) that turned the matter. It was reported in Pakistani newspaperDawn that the Asian countries promised to hold fund-raising events for West Indian cricket during the 2007 Cricket World Cup, which may have influenced the vote.[7] However, I.S. Bindra, chairman of the monitoring committee of the Asian bid, denied that, saying that it was their promise of extra profits of US$400 million that swung the vote in their way.[8]
The ICC was so impressed by the efficiency of the Trans-Tasman bid that they decided to award the next World Cup, to be held in 2015, to them.[9]
Australia and New Zealand last jointly hosted the Cricket World Cup in 1992.

Format

The tournament will feature 14 teams, the same number as the 2011 World Cup, giving associate and affiliate member nations a chance to participate.[10]
The format is the same as the 2011 edition: 14 teams will take part in the initial stages, divided into two groups of seven; the seven teams play each other once before the top four teams from each group qualify for the quarter-finals. The format ensures that each team gets to play a minimum of six matches even if they exit in the group stage.
On 29 January 2015, ICC reinstated the use of the Super Over in Cricket World Cup knock-out matches if the match finishes as a tie. However, if the Final match of the tournament is tied, both the finalists will announced as joint winners. The decision applies from the 2015 World Cup.[11]

Qualification

Highlighted are the countries to participate in the 2015 Cricket World Cup.
Qualified as full member of ICC
  Qualified via WCL or qualifier
Participated in qualifying process but did not qualify
Per ICC regulations, the 10 ICC full member nations qualify for the tournament automatically. Immediately after the 2011 World Cup, it was decided that the next tournament would be reduced to only feature the 10 full members.[12] This was met with heavy criticism from a number of associate nations, especially from the Ireland cricket team, who had performed well in 2007 and 2011. Following support shown by the ICC Cricket Committee for a qualification process,[13] the ICC retracted their decision in June 2011 and decided that 14 teams will participate in the 2015 World Cup, including four associate or affiliate membernations.[14]
At the ICC Chief Executives' Committee meeting in September 2011, the ICC decided on a new qualifying format. The top two teams of the 2011–13 ICC World Cricket League Championship qualify directly. The remaining six teams join the third and fourth-placed teams of 2011 ICC World Cricket League Division Two and the top two teams of 2013 ICC World Cricket League Division Three in a 10-team World Cup Qualifier to decide the remaining two places.[15][16]
On 9 July 2013, as a result of a tied match against Netherlands, Ireland became the first country to qualify for the 2015 World Cup.[17] On 4 October 2013, Afghanistan qualified for their first Cricket World Cup after beating Kenya to finish in second place behind Ireland.[18]
Scotland defeated the United Arab Emirates in the final of the 2014 Cricket World Cup Qualifier and both teams qualified for the last two spots in the 2015 Cricket World Cup.

PTI will not allow such intimidation and fascist tactics by the govt to mute the independent media: Imran Khan

Chairman PTI, Imran Khan, today condemned the arbitrary strong arm tactics of the Govt when it used the Competition Commission to raid the PBA office in Karachi yesterday, 6th January, without any warning or notice.
The unethical confiscation of the PBA data and immediate flying it out to Islamabad. This is clearly aimed at intimidating the media and penalising it for its coverage of the PTI Azadi March and Dharna and exposing the govt's use of advertising to block this coverage - which failed.
The Chairman made clear that PTI will not allow such intimidation and fascist tactics by the govt to mute the independent media.??
