IHC adjourns drone attack case till Feb 25
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Tuesday adjourned the plea seeking registration of first information report (FIR) against former station chief Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Jonathan Banks over deaths of civilians in US drone attacks.///...
A one judge bench of Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui resumed hearing of a contempt of court petition filed by Haji Abdul Karim Khan of North Waziristan, pleading that the Secretariat Police Station had not registered the FIR against the accused despite the order passed by the said bench on June 5 in 2014./
During the course of proceedings, petitioner’s counsel Mirza Shahzad Akber pleaded for contempt of court proceedings against the Station House Officer (SHO) Secretariat for not complying with court’s order despite lapse of six months./
He also requested the court to direct the Secretariat Police Station for registration of the FIR without any delay./
Meanwhile, a representative of the government appeared and apprised the bench that there are some legal complications in filing the FIR, Advocate General would appear before the bench to argue the legal points Subsequently, the bench adjourned the case till February 25
